Norway is a small country with huge variations. Both topographic and agriculturally. In large parts of eastern and central Norway, there are large and strong farms. While in the north and western parts the farms are rather small and barren.

The big economical changes in the Norwegian have had a strong influence on the structure of Norwegian farming. And the barns are a proof. They have more or less lost their original purpose, but they are still dominant sight in the Norwegian cultural landscape. With its volume and size they tell the story about Norway and the changes in farming over the last 100 years.

About 1200 barns are in the book. The intension has been to show the life is for this architectural workhorse in our time.
