Elin Berge, born 1978, is a documentary photographer based in Umeå, Sweden. Graduated from photojournalism studies at Nordens Fotoskola 2003 and has been a staff photographer at Västerbottens Folkblad and Dagens Nyheter. 2005 she went freelance and moved back home to concentrate on her own projects. 2006 she released her first book ”Slöjor”, a portrait story on Swedish Muslim women and their relation to the symbolically charged veil. 2009 came next book ”Drottninglandet” about Thai women in marriage migration, photographed in northeastern Sweden – a close collaboration with the celebrated singer and composer Frida Hyvönen. Elin has had numerous solo exhibitions, amongst others worth mentioning Hasselblad Center, Gothenburg and Latvian Museum of Photography, Riga. Her work has been generously supported by the Swedish Art’s Grants Committee.
